About

Tax Leverage is

Challenge & Solution

Findings

  1. Her current website is so much better than other tax firm’s. It has less word counts, each text also quite effective without unnecessary words, and she uses only high resolution images . However, the site is too static and not quite visually appealing to younger audience (doesn’t mean youth/teen, but younger adults) which grew up in the boom of visual age. Her site is also not yet considering the visitors who’s not ready to do business with her. This can be found through how she utilise a “book a call” button for every buttons on the homepage.
  2. We’ve learned that people’s testimonial on her website is so rich. People did spent time to write their experience working with her through Google. However, embedding the Google’s review widget limited by their system. So, this highly important feature, needs an improvement.
  3. We’ve also learned that beside showcasing her firms, she also initiated her media through JDTAXTV and JD Podcast. These two are her ‘weapon’ to attract new audience and could be the tool to keep new audience stay & explore the site.

The strategic question then:

  1. How might we, make the site more “acceptable” by younger audience through more modern look & feel, without overly using visual element?
  2. How might we, make the visitor with behavior to scroll fast and only scan, to be a scroll slower?
  3. How might we, make the testimonials from Google Reviews more prominent and interesting to read; as this is a very valuable asset & trust signal that can boost visitor confident to bring business with Jasmine?
  4. How might we, make the site not only for people to explore her service, but also to spend time with the online version of Jasmine (JDTAXTV and JD PODCAST)?

Solution:

  1. We explore a soft-red look and feel style, hierarchical information layout (combining grid & list when needed), utilise illustration & icon for an accent, keeping her portraits as the main visual approach
  2. We deploy several smooth animation to minimize the risk of only being scanned (applying animation on important text & image)
  3. We designed new custom post type. Jasmine now can add each reviews from Google, and she can customize it especially the text. E.g. Testimonials often have important keywords being left unnoticed. With this design, Jasmine could add bold, italic & underline to every words that she want the visitor to focus on. We also provide a field for her to add the link to the original Google Review. So the visitor also can see the “raw testimonial” on Google if they really want to.
  4. We provide Jasmine a dedicated page for the JD Media. Instead of just embedding the YouTube videos or Spotify content, we use copy to encourage people to stream on the site instead of going to each platform. Later on, this page could have more richer feature. E.g. When people ‘binge watching’ on the site’s page, we could add banner/ button or any kind of entry point that relates with her service. This could give more better context for audience that trying to make sense her service with the content.
